ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Josh Allen would “fully embrace” Joe Brady returning as Bills offensive coordinator on a permanent basis, the star quarterback said during his season exit interview Monday following Buffalo’s loss in the AFC divisional playoffs.

“I love what he brings to this team,” Allen said, “to our offense, the juice that he has, the passion he has for football.”

Brady was promoted from quarterbacks coach to interim coordinator after the Bills fired Ken Dorsey midseason. He revived Buffalo’s running game, including Allen’s energetic scrambles, and diversified the passing attack. The Bills averaged 27 points in winning six of their final seven regular season games and the wild-card playoff against the Steelers after Brady’s elevation.

Bills QB Josh Allen doesn’t expect to need surgery on shoulder

Allen said the Bills offense “did simple better” under Brady. “And didn’t have his entire touch and his entire flair on this system. So I know if that’s the route that we went, there’d be a little bit of change in terms of systematically what we would be doing.”

“It does get me excited,” Allen concluded, “just seeing what could be.”

“Joe Brady is our guy,” said Pro Bowl offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, the most outspoken Bills player. “He made this season fun down this stretch.”

‘It’ll get figured out’: Bills enter offseason with belief they will contend again

Receiver Gabe Davis, soon to be a free agent, said Brady “put us in a lot of great positions to be successful.”

“With his play calls, he was very free. He trusted us with any play that he called, and I feel like he put us in a lot of great positions to be successful,” said Davis, who missed the playoffs because of a knee injury but said Monday that he planned to return for the AFC championship game.

Allen acknowledged that there will likely be an interview process before coach Sean McDermott selected a permanent offensive coordinator. Along with Brady’s other job prospects, after he interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons head coach job last week.

“Any team would be lucky to have him,” Allen said. “And hopefully we’re the lucky team.”
