Joe Burrow the actor? Quarterback sniffs a pineapple in new Kroger commercial

Sure, Joe Burrow is known for being the star quarterback on the Cincinnati Bengals and, of course, his recent run to the Super Bowl. But what about Burrow, the actor?

In June, Burrow was announced as a brand ambassador for Kroger to promote health initiatives. His first commercial with the Cincinnati-based supermarket giant dropped Wednesday.

In the ad, the 2021 AP Comeback Player of the Year talked about how walking into a Kroger is "different from all the other grocery stores ... you feel a healthy energy."

Among scenes in which he pushed a grocery cart, picked up and smelled fruit and talked to Kroger employees in the grocery and pharmacy sections, Burrow added that "diet and exercise and living a healthy lifestyle ... are the number one contributor to living a good life."

Some viewers took issue with how Burrow said "Krogers" at one point in the commercial, instead of the supermarket's name, Kroger. But Kroger Health's Twitter account quickly responded to clear up any confusion: Like Burrow, Kroger also has no "S" at the end.

Burrow's ties to Kroger are deeper than the commercial and his partnership. His girlfriend, Olivia Holzmacher, started working at the company in 2019 as a senior process specialist and analyst.

And in February, Kroger, which partners with the Zero Hunger Zero Waste Foundation, accepted donations at the register to the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund and Sam Hubbard Foundation.
