Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has said he feels better about the team's offensive line entering the 2022 season, particularly with the additions via free agency of guard Alex Cappa, center Ted Karras and tackle La'el Collins.

But when asked during a recent appearance with Nelk on the Full Send Podcast about the 70 times he was sacked between the regular season and the playoffs - third-most in NFL history - Burrow downplayed the statistic many have discussed ad nauseam.

"We added pieces on the offensive line that I think will be really good," Burrow said on the podcast. "Here's the thing about sacks: So there's good sacks and bad sacks, right? And you look at the stats - yeah, I got sacked a lot. But you look at when they happened. Third-down sacks - who cares about third-down sacks? I mean I try to extend the play as long as I can on third down to get the first down. Unless I'm in field-goal range and it's gonna back me up. Then I'll throw the ball away and get some points. But I think sacks are - overblown stat."

Burrow's Instagram post Thursday:

During the podcast, Burrow discussed everything from his expectations ahead of last season's memorable AFC Championship run to the Baltimore Ravens' trash talk, and Super Bowl halftime to getting on stage with teammates during Kid Cudi's concert at a Super Bowl 56 after-party.

The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway wrote last week that Bengals starting left tackle Jonah Williams didn’t mince words when discussing the offensive line's protection of Burrow.
