Joe Burrow stats in 2021 Cincinnati Bengals season before Super Bowl vs. Rams

Along with completely changing the organization over the last two years, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow did what no other former No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft has done in his second season.

He took his team to the Super Bowl. In fact, there are only a handful of sophomore quarterbacks in NFL history who have guided a team to a Super Bowl regardless of where they were taken in the draft:

  • Dan Marino (1984)

  • Kurt Warner (1999)

  • Tom Brady (2001)

  • Ben Roethlisberger (2005)

  • Colin Kaepernick (2012)

  • Russell Wilson (2013)

  • Joe Burrow (2021)

Burrow's second season, which came after a shortened rookie season because of a knee injury, may be the best sophomore season ever. A win against the Rams on Sunday would put him a group with Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, future Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger (who bother retired last month) and likely future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson.

From Gronk to Ron Burgundy, people are taking notice. The Cincinnati Zoo is even naming animals after him. Here's how he performed in 2021.
