Joe Davis, John Smoltz to broadcast Field of Dreams Game in Iowa between Reds, Cubs

Play-by-play announcer Joe Davis and analyst John Smoltz are expected to broadcast the MLB at Field of Dreams Game on Fox between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs, live in Dyersville, Iowa, on Thurs., Aug. 11.

The Reds shared this tweet Thursday, one week before they emerge from the cornstalks for the second edition of the game:

"I know the history behind (the Reds' involvement in the 1919 World Series against the Chicago White Sox)," Reds infielder Kyle Farmer said during a Zoom call with reporters earlier this week. "I know the history of Shoeless Joe Jackson and all that."

In May, the Reds tweeted about Jonathan India's cornrows, looking forward to the game in Iowa.

In June, Reds rookie pitcher Hunter Greene said he planned to rewatch the movie ahead of the Reds' appearance in the game.

The Chicago White Sox defeated the New York Yankees on Tim Anderson's walk-off homer in last year's game.

"You just can't top it," Smoltz said in a phone interview with the Des Moines Register earlier this week. "It's like trying to do a sequel. The sequels are never better than the originals."

MLB Network is scheduled to broadcast "Intentional Talk" - co-hosted by Stephen Nelson and Kevin Millar - as well as "MLB Tonight" with Greg Amsinger and Harold Reynolds live from Dyersville next Wednesday and Thursday in advance of the game.
