Last Friday, the loved-up married couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner stepped out in downtown New York after celebrating Jonas’s 30th birthday, where the most noticeable head-turner was a his-and-hers pair of metallic birthday cone hats. Turner opted for a shiny green headpiece to accompany her pale blue asymmetrical button-up and of-the-moment Alo Yoga white biker shorts, paired with white sneakers. Jonas chose a complementing purple incarnation to match his T-shirt by London-based designer Martine Rose: specifically her capsule collection, Napa by Martine Rose, where the funky t-shirt is currently listed at $190 dollars. He then matched the trendy tee with a pair of white J Brand jeans and sneakers with icy blue laces.

Martine Rose has been one of menswear’s buzziest name for several seasons now, gaining popularity with her play on proportions, from über high-waisted jeans to absurdist, elongated dad sandals. The Napa collection is a collaboration with the Italian outdoor clothing label Napapijri, in which Rose applies her silhouette-warping technique and signature ’90s flavor to redefine the brand’s archives.

It’s refreshing to see a mega pop star like Jonas opt for a smaller designer such as Martine Rose. And while he may only be wearing a T-shirt, given Jonas’s penchant for funky print shirts and bold suiting, maybe he’ll wear something more outré from Rose’s main line in the future.
