Thirty-eight year-old Congressman Joseph Kennedy launched his campaign for the Senate seat in Massachusetts. He made it official at an event in Boston on Saturday.

"I'm here to announce that I'm going to be a candidate for the Unites States Senate."

"Massachusetts needs a Senator who is laser focused on three main things. At home- showing up at every community, making sure you're visible, accessible, you're bringing those concerns down to Washington, and fighting for our people down in DC. You get policies that are focused on yes the important goals of the Green New Deal but also a myriad of other factors that impede our progress. Affordable housing, accessible health care, quality school, education. Not to mention major fights we're seeing across our country on economic justice and racial equity, and a disastrous foreign policy. And third, it's the politics. We need to beat Donald Trump and you need to slip the United States Senate."

Kennedy is challenging incumbent Edward Markey… a fellow Democrat with broad support from prominent politicians, including the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

"It's a fight, man. And look, this is about the values and vision that I bring to this race. The challenges I think we confront. Senator Markey is a good man. This is going to be a tight race. I look forward to making my case across Massachusetts."
