Joe Trohman 'stepping away' from Fall Out Boy after mental health 'rapidly deteriorated'
The guitar player said he needs a break to recover but assured fans he would 'return to the fold'

Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman has announced he is "stepping away" from the band amid mental health struggles.
The star, 38, posted a long message on social media explaining that his mental health had "rapidly deteriorated" in recent years.
He said while it pained him to make the decision he needed to put his mental health first and take a break and recover.

However, Trohman assured the band's fans that he would "return to the fold" in the future.
He said in his statement: "Neil Young once howled that it’s better to burn out than to fade away. But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful.
"Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years.
"So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell."
Trohman went on: "It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I’m most proud of).
"So, the question remains: Will I return to the fold? Absolutely, one hundred percent. In the meantime, I must recover which means putting myself and my mental health first."
The guitar player went on to thank everyone, including his bandmates and family, for "understanding and respecting this difficult, but necessary, decision".
Fans posted messages on social media wishing the musician well after his announcement.
"Take all the time you need Joe," said one.
Another wrote: "Mental health comes first, we understand. We’ll be patiently waiting for your return, no matter how long it takes!"

The US rock band is comprised of Trohman, Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump and Andy Hurley and they are known for tracks such as Dance, Dance, Irresistible and Sugar, We're Goin' Down.
They have just announced their new album, So Much (For) Stardust.
