'This is it': Johansson back as 'Black Widow' avenger

It appears to be the last act for Scarlett Johansson as ‘Black Widow’, she’s back in theaters on Friday in the assassin-turned-avenger’s origin story, pre-dating Black Widow’s death in the 2019 blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame".

After numerous delays because of the global pandemic, Johansson reprises the role for the ninth time in the Marvel franchise, but in an interview with Reuters, she said this will likely be the last time she portrays the character.

"I think it's always great to leave on a high note and you know, I think I've really done all the work I can do with this and I feel bittersweet about it. I would, you know, love to continue working with Marvel in other capacities but I think this is it.”

Johansson also opened up about her additional responsibilities as executive producer.

“Yeah, of course, all movies start with a finished script. No, that's not the case in the Marvel world, it's not the case in most big franchise tentpole movie world big studio movies. You're like working through the script and most of the time you start shooting and there's no third act or there's like huge plot holes."

"Stranger Things" actor David Harbour plays the father of Black Widow’s alter-ego Natasha Romanoff and Rachel Weisz co-stars as her mother.

Florence Pugh portrays her sister, Yelena, who often pokes fun at the Black Widow and her fellow Avengers, joked about embodying that character on set.

"I hope I made people laugh. I think, I think the dryness of having the Russian accent, you really can't kind of smile when you're doing many of those things so I think maybe yeah, the bluntness of me being just outrageously harsh to Natasha may have been funny but I definitely, I definitely smirked when the whole family got involved and they all shared the same sense of humor and timing. That was just perfect."

You can catch ‘Black Widow’ in theaters this weekend, and on the Disney+ streaming service for an additional $30.00 for subscribers.
