John Baker named chief nursing officer at Union Hospital

DOVER — John Baker has been named chief nursing officer at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, effective June 1.

Bringing a quarter century of nursing expertise, Baker will oversee nursing practice at Union Hospital.

Baker serves as vice president of nursing and operations for Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lodi Hospital, where he oversees clinical and operational management for nursing services, ancillary clinical areas and support services.

He has led renovation and relocation of laboratory services, integrated new technologies to improve patient care and is establishing telemedicine services. He previously served as director of nursing for inpatient services at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital and led the team in achieving Magnet recognition.

Baker holds a doctor of nursing practice from Chamberlain College in Addison, Ill. He also holds a master of business administration, master of science in nursing and a bachelor of science in nursing from Kent State University. He has served in the U.S. Army. He is also Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC).

Sheila Miller, chief nursing officer, Cleveland Clinic Akron General, has been serving as interim CNO at Union Hospital.
