Star Wars star John Boyega has confirmed he would be willing to journey to a galaxy far, far away in the future.

The Woman King actor first appeared in the franchise in 2015 as former Order soldier Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He then returned for the 2017 sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and again in 2019 for the third film in the trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Now Boyega, who made his acting debut in the Sci-Fi horror Attack The Block, has revealed he is open to returning to the Star Wars franchise in the future.

"I'm open to all characters and scripts that are enjoyable, have a great cast attached, and a terrific director. So yeah, I'm open to all opportunities," he told TechRadar.

The news may come as a shock to some fans as the actor previously criticised the franchise after feeling he had been treated poorly. Many fans complained about his character feeling increasingly sidelined as the latest trilogy progressed, and it was a sentiment Boyega shared and aired during an interview with GQ.

"It's so difficult to manoeuvre. You get yourself involved in projects and you're not necessarily going to like everything," he said.

"[But] what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I'll say it straight up."

He went on to compare the difference in how his co-stars were treated, saying: "They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let's be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I'm not exposing anything."

Outside of Star Wars, Boyega's latest film They Cloned Tyrone has debuted on Netflix with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. The sci-fi comedy follows a trio of unlikely heroes – played by Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx – who are forced together when a series of eerie events leads them to confront a government conspiracy.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
