John Cusack screening 'Say Anything ...' in Milwaukee. Here's when and where.

John Cusack is coming to Milwaukee for a screening of his 1989 hit, teen romantic comedy drama "Say Anything ...."

The Chicago-based actor will host a screening of "Say Anything ..." Nov. 4 at the Riverside Theater, including a conversation about his career and the making of the film, as well as a question-and-answer period.

In "Say Anything ...," Cusack starred as Lloyd Dobler, a high school underachiever who falls for Diane Court, the school's beautiful but isolated valedictorian played by Ione Skye. Despite the disapproval of Skye's friends and her father, the two strike up an unlikely and tumultuous romance.

The film has endured for over 30 years, thanks in no small part to its most memorable scene, where Cusack stands outside of Skye's house holding a boombox that's blasting Peter Gabriel's ballad "In Your Eyes."

Cusack has gone on to star in dozens of other films, from the Nic Cage-led thriller "Con Air" to the surrealist comedy drama "Being John Malkovich," but "Say Anything ..." remains his most iconic role.

Tickets can be purchased through the Riverside's ticket website. They'll go on presale for Riverside eMembers at noon Thursday and open for sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday. Prices are $49.50 to $75.

Has John Cusack screened "Say Anything ..." in Milwaukee before?

Yes! Cusack screened the film and had a Q&A at the Riverside Theater in 2018. At the time, Cusack hadn't done a press tour where he had screened "Say Anything," making the event a novelty for him.

"It wasn't like some huge hit, but it was kind of a modest (success), and people are sort of discovering and rediscovering it," Cusack told the Journal Sentinel.
