Bipartisan cooperation in politics will be the topic of a conversation between former U.S. Sens. John Danforth and Claire McCaskill on Monday at Stephens College.

"Show Me the Way: How to Work Across the Aisle" will be at 7 p.m. in Windsor Auditorium and also live-streamed on Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/91389263687. It is free and open to the public.

Stephens College President Dianne Lynch will moderate the event.

Danforth, a Republican, served three terms as U.S. senator from Missouri from 1976 to 1995. He also served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in 2004. He is an ordained Episcopal priest. He is director of the Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University.

McCaskill, a Democrat, served as U.S. senator from Missouri from 2007 to 2019. She was Missouri state auditor from 1999 to 2007 and also served in the Missouri House of Representatives. She is a political analyst for MSNBC and NBC.

The Unnamed Committee of Boone County for Open Minds in Politics is presenting the bipartisan conversation. The group formed in late 2019 when Tony Lupo, chairman of the Boone County Republican Central Committee, and Bill Clark, former program director of the Boone County Muleskinners Democratic club, met for lunch to discuss ways to promote bipartisanship in politics.
