John Quinones visits Sturgis

STURGIS - ABC News veteran and TV host John Quinones visited Sturgis Thursday as a guest of the Glen Oaks Community College's Viking Series program.

Quinones stopped at the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts in the Electric City to sign copies of his book, "Heroes Among Us," before adjourning to the auditorium to present his talk, “Opportunity Through Education: John Quinones’ American Dream.” Quinones also met with members of the Glen Oaks Community College Hispanic Student Alliance before his presentation and posed for pictures with fans.

Quinones challenged the audience to always do the right thing and to be a hero to someone in their time of need or defense against societal injustice.

"When you come face to face with bullying or abuse ... do you step in, or do you step away?" Quinones asked the audience. "Isn't that the very definition of a person's character? It's not what we do when everyone's watching; it's what we do even when no one is watching."

"Silence is complicity," he said.

Quinones is the host of the long-running television show, "What Would You Do," which places moral or ethical situations before an unwitting audience in public to see how they will address the dilemma.
