John Whaite admits he burped in Johannes Radebe’s face as he says being in ‘Strictly’ is not sexy

John Whaite has revealed his dances with Johannes Radebe are far from sexy in real life, as he once burped in his partner's face.

The former Bake Off winner is currently partnering pro dancer Radebe in Strictly Come Dancing as part of the show's first all-male couple, with judge Craig Revel Horwood calling their recent Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Paso Doble "seriously hot".

But Whaite, 32, says that couldn't be further from the truth in rehearsals, telling The Sun: "When you spend that much time with someone, you see them warts and all. I think I’ve burped in Johannes’ face — I might have even farted at one point.

"There is no attraction because you see sweat and everything."

It certainly sounds as though Whaite's long-term partner Paul Atkins has nothing to worry about on the Strictly Curse front as he said that performances were usually full of sweaty underpants rather than sex appeal.

He said: “If you could see our sweaty underpants, you wouldn’t find us sexy. As we peel our ­costumes off and wipe off our make-up, you’d think, 'Oh my God, they’re rank!'"

Whaite added that it was the hair, make-up and costume departments who made the show look sexy, claiming that the contestants were "just the ­conveyors of their sexiness".

In tonight's show, Whaite and Radebe will dance the Charleston and are hoping for a return to their series high score from the Paso Doble.

The movie week dance saw them earn a near-perfect 39 points with every judge apart from Revel Horwood giving them 10 points.

Whaite admitted he'd love to win a 10 from Revel Horwood, likening it to Strictly's version of the Bake Off Hollywood Handshake from judge Paul Hollywood.
