Johnny Gaudreau signing brings surge in Columbus Blue Jackets season tickets
The "Johnny Hockey" buzz is already sweeping Columbus.
The Blue Jackets made a splash Wednesday, bringing in winger Johnny Gaudreau, who scored 40 goals and 75 assists for the Calgary Flames last season, and has 609 points through 602 career NHL games.
The signing that sent shockwaves across the NHL has also resulted in a boost at the Blue Jackets' ticket office.
Although unable to disclose exact figures, the organization confirmed it has seen an uptick in season ticket sales after the Gaudreau signing. They estimated they had sold more full-season packages in 24 hours than they do in a typical week during this time of year.
A team spokesperson said the Blue Jackets expect the pace of season ticket sales, along with group and single-game tickets, to continue to be strong with the arrival of the 5-9 forward.
"It has been a great 24 hours for our organization, and it is exciting to see the tremendous enthusiasm that our fans have for his signing and for our team," spokesperson Todd Sharrock said in a statement.

Single-game tickets for 2022-23 will go on sale July 22.
The Blue Jackets will start the 2022-23 season on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes Oct. 12, before returning to Columbus for the home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning Oct. 14.

But for those fans who want to a replica of what the winger will wear on the ice, it's not going to come cheap.
The Blue Line – the Blue Jackets' team store – has Gaudreau's home, away and alternate replica jerseys on sale for $280 each.
