FISH CREEK - Wisconsin-based folk singers-songwriters Johnsmith and Dan Sebranek make their return to the White Gull Inn stage for an April 12 concert with an optional pre-show dinner.

The musicians have appeared several times in the annual winter concert series, but this will be their first concert together at White Gull since 2019. The performance originally was scheduled to take place Feb. 22 but was canceled and rescheduled because of a blizzard that day.

A former winner at the Kerrville New Folk Festival in Texas, Johnsmith has performed across America and abroad in festivals, clubs and house concerts for more than 35 years. Along with releasing nine solo albums, he also leads musical tours to Ireland, teaches songwriting and has worked in Nashville as a staff songwriter.

Sebranek not only has been in concert with Johnsmith but also plays as a solo act and with western Wisconsin bluegrass band String Ties, which played the White Gull series in 2016. With roots in bluegrass and rock 'n' roll, he's shared stages with the likes of Michael Martin Murphey, John Prine and Pure Prairie League. His former band Northern Hospitality won a first-place award at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado.

The optional pre-concert, fixed-price dinner features coq au vin served over Yukon Gold potatoes, seasonal salad and Door County apple cake.

The White Gull Inn series debuted in November 1983, with concerts held roughly once a month from November through April. All concerts are preceded by the optional fixed-menu dinner, which varies from concert to concert.

Over nearly four decades of concerts, the series has attracted artists such as Tom Paxton, Bob Gibson and John McCuen among the almost 200 who have played at White Gull. Paxton and McCuen are among the Grammy Award-nominated artists who have played the series, along with John McCutcheon, Special Consensus, Robbie Fulks and Claire Lynch, while others have won numerous folk and bluegrass music awards.

White Gull Inn is at 4225 Main St., Fish Creek. The concert starts at 8 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 for the concert, $26.95 for dinner; reservations are strongly recommended for both, as concerts and dinners have usually sold out.
