Johnson City's House of Sport grand opening: What to know about special guests, prizes
Community members will have the chance to win various prizes and meet four nationally-known athletes during the grand opening of Johnson City's Dick's House of Sport later this month.
The largest store ever built by Dick's Sporting Goods will open at the south end of the Oakdale Commons at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, with the celebration continuing through Sunday, Aug. 20.
The two-level Dick's House of Sport will encompass 140,000 square feet, feature an indoor climbing wall, batting cage and footwear department. Outside, a 17,000 square-foot turf field with a track will allow people to try products and will double as an ice rink during the winter.

The first 100 adults in line each morning will receive mystery gift cards with the chance to win up to $500 and visitors can enter for a grand prize valued up to $500.
