Mar. 27—Johnson County softball results from Friday, March 24:

Alvarado 20, Hillsboro 7

The Alvarado Lady Indians moved to 1-1 in District 10-4A play with a 20-7 win at Hillsboro.

In a wild game, the Lady Indians held an 11-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Hillsboro staved off the run-rule loss with six runs to make it an 11-7 game going into the sixth.

Alvarado exploded for nine runs in the top of the sixth inning off six hits, two walks and two errors, highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam homer by Baylee Marr.

Marr went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs and one walk, Tenzly Martin was 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBIs, four runs and one walk, Aubree Nalley was 5-for-6 with three RBIs, and Summer Sullivan drew four walks and was 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Nalley struck out eight with seven hits and two earned runs allowed in six innings pitched for the win.

Alvarado will host Kennedale at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Godley 7, Venus 6

In a thrilling District 10-4A battle, the Godley Lady Cats captured a 7-6 walk-off win over the Venus Lady Bulldogs on Friday.

With the game tied, 6-6, Karlee Clark hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the seventh, then, after an infield pop-out, Halle Gross grounded to second on a fielder's choice but Clark was safe at home for the walk-off victory.

Godley grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning but Venus tied it with a run in the top of the third, only for the Lady Cats to go back in front with one run in the home half of the third.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Lady Bulldogs tied it again in the top of the fifth when Haleigh Hopper hit a leadoff homer to make it 2-2.

Venus then took its first lead of the night on a two-run double by Valeria Gonzalez for a 4-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, however, the Lady Cats went back in front. After a run scored on a passed ball, Madison Aguiar hit a two-out, three-run inside-the-park home run for a 6-4 lead. Godley managed to reload the bases loaded after a single and back-to-back walks, but a fly-out to right field ended the threat.

In the top of the seventh, Venus tied it again on a clutch two-run home run from Kylee Spray before Godley walked it off in the home half of the seventh.

Aguiar was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run while Clark was 3-for-3 with two runs and a walk to lead the Lady Cats.

Natalia Frias was 2-for-4 with an RIB and a run, Mixtli Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a run and a walk, and Spray was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a walk to lead Venus.

Samantha Andersen and Cadence Chambliess each pitched three innings for the Lady Cats. Andersen struck out six with three walks and two hits allowed while Chambliess struck out five with six hits and five runs allowed. Clark worked the seventh inning with no hits, walks or runs allowed with one strikeout for the win.

Spray pitched a complete game for Venus with eight hits, six earned runs and seven walks allowed with four strikeouts.

Godley improved to 16-5-1 overall and 2-0 in district play while Venus fell to 9-14 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Godley will visit Waxahachie Life at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday while Venus visits Hillsboro.

Grandview 15, Whitney 0

The No. 1-ranked Grandview Lady Zebras cruised to a 15-0 win Friday over Whitney to stay perfect in District 17-3A play at 4-0.

Grandview senior Caydin Blackmon pitched four perfect innings with seven strikeouts before Katharine Gordy finished it off with one hit allowed and one strikeout in the fifth inning.

K.K. Moore was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs, Olivia Bauerschlag went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, and Kylie Grafa was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one RBI to lead the Lady Zebras at the plate.

After a scoreless first inning, Grandview struck for one run in the second, two in the third, five in the fourth and then seven in the fifth for the run-rule win.

On Saturday, the Lady Zebras recorded a 2-0 win at South Grand Prairie, the No. 24-ranked team in Class 6A, in a state-ranked non-district showdown.

Blackmon and freshman Madi Doty combined for the two-hit shutout. Blackmon struck out six with one hit in four innings for the win while Doty struck out six with one hit allowed in three innings for the save.

Following two scoreless innings, Grandview put the scoreboard operator to work when Bella Jeter hit a two-out RBI single for a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Grafa hit a two-out RBI double for a 2-0 lead as both of the Lady Zebras' runs came with two outs.

Jeter went 2-for-4 with one RBI while Grafa was 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead Grandview, which improved to 24-1 on the season.

The Lady Zebras will visit Maypearl in a District 17-3A doubleheader Tuesday with games scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m.

Joshua 10, Midlothian Heritage 0

After a rough outing earlier in the week vs. Burleson Centennial, Joshua star pitcher Catie Amador bounced back in style as she tossed a no-hitter to lead the Lady Owls to a 10-0 win in five innings over Midlothian Heritage.

Amador struck out six batters and walked only one in her no-hit, complete-game shutout performance as the Lady Owls improved to 7-1 in District 8-5A play.

Joshua started strong with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. After scoring one run in each of the third and fourth innings, the Lady Owls plated four more runs in the fifth for the run-rule victory.

Amador went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and one walk while Zaidyn Streeter was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run to lead Joshua offensively.

Joshua is scheduled to visit Mansfield Summit at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Burleson Centennial 9, Midlothian 5

The Burleson Centennial Lady Spartans wrapped up the first round of District 8-5A play with a perfect 8-0 record after a 9-5 win Friday at Midlothian.

Centennial recorded 20 base hits on the night — overcoming four uncharacteristic errors — but the Lady Spartans needed a late comeback.

After Centennial plated two runs in the fourth inning, Midlothian pushed across five runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Spartans got one run back in the top of the sixth to make it a 5-3 game going into the seventh.

In the final frame, Centennial struck for six runs to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 9-5 lead and win.

Bailey Lindemuth was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a walk while Madelyn Hickey went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs to lead the Lady Spartans. Cori Beth Van Cleef was 3-for-3 with a run and Bailey Ford was 3-for-5 with one RBI and a run.

Lexie Arthur pitched a complete game for Centennial as she allowed three hits, four walks and only one earned run with three strikeouts for the win.

The Lady Spartans will host Burleson at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
