Johnsonville Recalled 95,000 Pounds Of Sausage Due To Plastic Contamination

From Delish

Heads up, sausage lovers: There’s a new recall that needs to be on your radar. Johnsonville is recalling more than 95,000 pounds of sausages due to possible contamination with plastic.

The recall, which was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), says that Johnsonville’s ready-to-eat jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage products might be contaminated with hard green plastic.

The recalled sausages were packaged on March 12 and 13 and have a “best by” date of June 9. They also have the establishment number “EST. 34224” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The sausages were shipped nationwide and internationally, the FSIS says. If you’re still not sure if you have these at your place, you can view the product’s label on the FSIS website.

The issue was first discovered when someone contacted Johnsonville to let them know they’d found hard green plastic in their sausage. However, FSIS says that there haven’t been any confirmed reports of people being injured or sickened by eating the sausages.

If you happen to have these sausages in your fridge or freezer, FSIS recommends returning them to the store where you bought them for a refund or tossing them. And, if you happened to eat this sausage and are concerned, call your doctor.
