Jon Rahm will show up at the June 2-5 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village looking to take care of unfinished business after being put out of business at last year’s PGA Tour event.

Rahm, ranked No. 2 in the world, committed Thursday to play the Memorial, where last year he led by six strokes after three rounds until he was forced to withdraw when a COVID-19 test came back positive.

Rahm had just completed a sparkling round of 8-under-par 64 when Tour officials approached him behind the 18th green to inform him of the positive test. He bent forward upon hearing the news, emotionally devastated as he walked to the scoring area, where he withdrew. Patrick Cantlay won the Memorial the next day in a one-hole playoff against Collin Morikawa.

Rahm, who won the 2020 Memorial, is coming off a career-best 15 top-10 finishes in 2021, including his first major championship at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. His one win so far this season came May 1 at the Mexican Open.

Also committing Thursday was 2014 Memorial winner Hideki Matsuyama, ranked No. 13 in the world. He has four top-10 finishes this year, including wins at the ZOZO Championship and Sony Open.
