In a podcast episode for Jon Stewart’s show, The Problem with Jon Stewart, he reflects on his political activism and what he's learned about the legislative system with the hosts of Pod Save America.

STEWART: “Shame doesn't work unless they feel that it will be unrelenting and they can’t escape its glare. Generally, the place is designed to deflect. If you want to get something done, it's got to be hurricane preparedness. And you have to seal up every window and every vent and every door. You’re fighting zombies. And if there's any way that they get in the house, you lose. And so it really is, it's a it's a wildly unrelenting game and that if to do the moral thing requires that every cause have a celebrity spokesperson, we're fucked.”

POD SAVE AMERICA HOSTS: “Yeah, big time.”

STEWART: “But boy, you don't come out of there feeling like this system has any connection to the needs of the people that it purports to serve. That's for sure.”
