The Jonas Brothers are coming to Lexington in one week. What to know about the concert, band

Put on your red dress and get ready to sing “Burnin’ Up” — the Jonas Brothers are coming to Lexington in about one week.

Maybe you got tickets because you were fans of the Jonas Brothers back in the Disney Channel days, or your friends are dragging you along for the ride. Or maybe, like me, you’ve been a fan since their self-titled album was released in 2007.

As of Tuesday, there are still tickets available for the September 26 show for as low as $60, but time is running out to snag one for yourself.

Whatever your reason for heading to the concert, here’s a quick primer on what you need to know about their “FIVE ALBUMS. ONE NIGHT.” tour stop at Rupp Arena, plus what they’ve been up to for the past few years.

(If you’re wondering why the tour name references only five albums instead of their entire discography, the JoBros only play their cover of “Year 3000” from their first album, which was recorded under a different label. They also only play one song from the “Camp Rock” album, which is a real shame. There’s aren’t songs from the Jonas TV show, either.)

What can you expect from the concert?

If you’re headed to the concert because you’re a fan of their older music, you might not be familiar with the band’s more recent releases.

After taking some time apart, Nick, Kevin and Joe got the band back together in 2019 with their release of “Happiness Begins.” If you listened to the radio at all that year, you are probably familiar with the single “Sucker,” but the album also features songs like “Cool” and “Only Human” that are bound to get stuck in your head.

Earlier this year, they released their sixth studio album, “The Album.” It features a sweet tribute to their daughters in “Little Bird,” and “Waffle House” is another catchy pop song.

As the name of the tour suggests, the Jonas Brothers play songs from five albums. The classics are represented but if you’re an old-school fan wanting to belt out your favorite tracks, you might be disappointed. According to my sources (AKA my coworker, Caroline, who saw them earlier this summer), the Jonas Brothers play medleys of some of their older music instead of the full songs.

Concert-goers can also expect some songs from the boys’ solo careers: “Jealous” from Nick’s first solo album, and “Cake by the Ocean” from Joe’s band DNCE both make appearances on the setlist.

And just a reminder about concerts at Rupp: the arena has a clear bag policy that will be in effect for the show. Rupp is cashless for parking and concessions, so bring a card instead of cash.

The band has been back together since 2019

Ready for some Jonas Brothers lore? The Jonas Brothers split in 2013 after canceling tour dates, citing creative differences and a “deep rift within the band.”

They were working on their fifth album when creative differences arose, which ultimately led to the band taking a break. In a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” discussion in 2016, Joe stated he wasn’t on speaking terms with Kevin and Nick.

In their 2019 documentary, it was confirmed that Nick was the one who initiated the break, wanting to focus on acting and music. During the break, he released hits like “Chains,” “Jealous,” and “Close,” while also acting in movies, including “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.”

Joe, meanwhile, was the lead singer of dance-rock band DNCE, most known for “Cake by the Ocean,” during the JoBros break.

Shortly before the break, Kevin and his wife Danielle starred on the reality show “Married to Jonas,” which lasted one season. During the break, Kevin founded several companies and apps, and appeared on the seventh season of “Celebrity Apprentice.”

While Nick might have been the reason behind the initial hiatus, he’s also the reason the band got back together in 2019, he said in the Jonas Brothers’ Carpool Karaoke session on The Late Late Show.

They reunited and released the single “Sucker” in March 2019, along with the album “Happiness Begins,” and their documentary the same year.

They’re girl dads

The Jones Brothers are also all Jonas Fathers.

Nick, 31, is married to actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and they have one daughter. Kevin, 35, has been married to Danielle Jonas since 2009, and they have two daughters. Their families have been spotted at shows throughout the tour, talking and interacting with fans.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Joe, 34, and his wife, “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner, were divorcing after four years of marriage. The couple has two daughters.

It was the topic of plenty of internet speculation, as Joe was seen wearing, and then not wearing, his wedding ring on tour dates and social media posts leading up to the announcement.

“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” they wrote in a joint statement.

Shortly after the divorce was announced, Joe addressed it at a show, thanking fans for their support and saying that rumors about circumstances around the divorce shouldn’t be believed.
