Jonas Hill Hospital & Clinic hosts 3rd annual Going Green Pet Parade

May 8—LENOIR — May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Jonas Hill Hospital and Clinic hosted its third annual Going Green Pet Parade to help spread the word about mental health and wellbeing. The event was held outside of Jonas Hill on May 4th at 6:30 p.m. Pets of all kinds attended with their owners to spread joy and relaxation.

Speakers at the event included Laura Easton, president and CEO of UNC Health Caldwell, and Christyn Grant, director of Jonas Hill Hospital and Clinic. Both speakers reflected on the importance of mental health as well as the importance of facilities like Jonas Hill Hospital and Clinic in the Caldwell County community. Next, the Going Green tree was lit to usher in Mental Health Awareness Month. Finally, the pet parade began and numerous dogs and even a snake made their way around the behavioral health facility.

"This event is such a wonderful reflection of self-care and really highlights the importance of mental health. Animals help us relax and improve our overall well-being. We are so glad to have so many pets join us this year! If you are driving by Jonas Hill Hospital & Clinic and see our tree, take a moment to reflect on what you can do to improve your mental health," said Alicia Stanislaw, director of Psychiatry, Women and Children at UNC Health Caldwell.
