Jonathan Aranda leading off for Rays, playing third vs. Rangers

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays are looking to bounce back from Friday’s series-opening loss when they face the Rangers again tonight at 6:10.

In a bit of a surprise, rookie Jonathan Aranda is leading off and playing third base. Related, Yandy Diaz, who has been one of the Rays’ hottest hitters, is not in the lineup a day after serving as the designated hitter.

Right-handed reliever Shawn Armstrong will be the opener for the Rays, likely to work multiple innings. Lefty Ryan Yarbrough is expected to follow and work bulk innings.

The Rangers are starting right-hander Jon Gray.
