Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge are bringing us the queer horror we want to see!

In M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie Knock at the Cabin, the two out actors play a pair of married fathers who go on what they think will be a simple trip to a cabin in the woods with their young daughter. Unfortunately, things go completely off the rails from there.

The movie is based on the bestselling 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World, and has a screenplay by Shyamalan, Steve Desmond, and Michael Sherman. Shyamalan also directs.

“While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse,” the movie’s description reads. “With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.”

In the first trailer, released today, we see the happy family having a great time out in nature until a mysterious man (played by Dave Bautista) shows up and starts talking to their daughter. Soon, more strangers appear out of the woods, and several of them are carrying weapons.

“You see, the four of us have a very important job to do,” the man says. “In fact, it might be the most important job in the history of the world.”

“We were called and are united by a common vision which has now become a command that we cannot ignore,” he continues. “The four of us are here to prevent the apocalypse. Your family has been chosen to make a horrible decision. If you fail to choose, the world will end.”

I’ve got chills!!! This looks like a hit from Shyamalan. While some of his movies have been bigger hits than others, when Shyamalan is in his sweet spot, he’s still one of the best horror and thriller directors working today.

Apart from Groff, Aldridge, and Bautista, the movie also stars Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abby Quinn, Rupert Grint, and newcomer Kristen Cui.

Knock at the Cabin is scheduled to hit theaters on February 3, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
