Jonathan Majors virtually appeared in court Tuesday morning via Zoom regarding his pending assault case.

Variety reported the New York State judge presiding over the case reviewed a motion filed by Majors’ defense team and said the prosecution has until May 23 to respond.

Majors is due back in court on June 13. The judge said if the Creed III star does not attend the hearing, a warrant can be issued within 48 hours for his arrest.

“I obviously don’t want that to happen, so just stay in touch with your attorney,” the judge told Majors.

As Blavity reported, Majors was arrested on March 25 on charges of strangulation, harassment and assault.

“The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition,” the New York Police Department said in a statement.

Police responded to a 911 call to an apartment in Chelsea regarding a domestic violence dispute between the actor and a 30-year-old woman.

The alleged victim was granted an order of protection against Majors on April 27. At the time, the Manhattan district attorney’s office press secretary Doug Jones released a statement regarding the restraining order, per Blavity.

“Today, a judge granted a Full Temporary Order of Protection for the victim, per the People’s request and with the consent of defense counsel. (At the time of arraignment, a Limited Temporary Order of Protection was granted). The next date in the case is May 9 in Part D (4th floor of 100 Centre Street),” he said.

Majors’ defense team has denied the assault claims and provided videos and text messages to prove their client is innocent. His defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, issued a statement last month regarding the incident.

“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone. We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”

At the time of his arrest, Chaudhry insisted the actor “is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows” and suggested the woman was having “an emotional crisis.”
