Winter is the top season of the year for consumer spending at restaurants across the Chicago area, according to data on local business transactions from Womply, a software provider that also offers business advertising ideas. The average amount spent per customer transaction at Chicago-area restaurants grew to $30 for the metro area in the winter of last year, 2% higher than the average for the rest of the year.

1. Nini's Deli
First on the list is Nini's Deli. Located at 543 N. Noble St. in West Town, the spot to score sandwiches, empanadas and coffee and tea is the highest-rated sandwich spot in Chicago, boasting five stars out of 878 reviews on Yelp.
2. RPM Steak
Next up is the Near North's RPM Steak, situated at 66 W. Kinzie St. With 4.5 stars out of 1,399 reviews on Yelp, the steakhouse, which offers salads, sandwiches and more, has proven to be a local favorite.
Xoco, a Mexican and breakfast and brunch spot that offers sandwiches and more in the Near North, is another high-traffic go-to, with four stars out of 3,581 Yelp reviews. Head over to 449 N. Clark St. to see for yourself.
4. Luna Empanada Shop
Over in Portage Park, check out Luna Empanada Shop, which has earned five stars out of 156 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Colombian spot, which offers sandwiches and empanadas, at 6011 W. Irving Park Road. (between Mc Vicker and Austin avenues).
