Joplin Health Department inpections (Jan. 30)

Jan. 30—The Joplin Globe publishes summaries of routine and follow-up inspections performed by the Joplin Health Department. Businesses that are inspected either pass or fail based on violations found during the time of inspection. Those violations fall into two categories:

—Priority violations are more severe and deal with improper food handling, storage and preparation. The Globe lists the number and summary of each violation.

—Core violations are less severe and deal with equipment, maintenance and general cleanliness. The Globe publishes only the number of those violations.

A failed inspection can result in a variety of corrections based on the types of violations found. Full copies of each report are available from the Joplin Health Department.

Inspections done Jan. 11-12:

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, 3031 E. Hammons Blvd., pass with one priority violation for storing chemicals on dish machine and six core violations.

Kum & Go, 5002 S. Main St., pass with no priority and four core violations.

The Recovery Outreach Community Center concessions, 1402 S. Main St., pass with one priority violation for storing soap and shampoo in the area where drinking cups are stored, and one core violation.

Dover Hill Elementary School kitchen, 1100 N. Main St., pass with no priority or core violations.

Inspections on Jan. 16-17:

Sonic Drive-In, 3333 S. Range Line Road, pass with no priority and five core violations.

530 Somewhere, 530 S. Main St., pass with no priority and three core violations.

Pho Saigon Vietnamese Noodle & Grill, 2640 E. 32nd St., pass with 12 core violations.

Wendy's at Pilot, 4500 S. 43 Highway, pass with four core violations.

Supertienda La Familia, 807 S. Maiden Lane, pass with one priority violation for soaps stored above serving plates and bowls, and one core violation.

Drury Inn & Suites Kitchen, 3601 S. Range Line, pass with one priority violation for setting containers of sugar, dried fruit and granola on buffet not covered by sneeze shield, and one core violation.

Simple Simon's Pizza, 1522 Langston Hughes-Broadway, pass with no priority or core violations.

Pizza Ranch, 3507 E. 20th St., pass with no priority and two core violations.
