Poole drops scintillating 13 points in second quarter vs. Suns originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Jordan Poole, playing in his first NBA game in over a month, caught fire in the second quarter Thursday against the Phoenix Suns.

After not playing in the first quarter, the 2019 first-round pick played the entire second quarter and scored 13 points in an impressive burst towards the end of the period.

In the last four minutes, Poole converted a driving layup, made back-to-back 3-pointers and forced his way to the basket with two more layups. On the final one, he drew a foul and made the free throw. He went 5-of-8 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range in the period.

Poole and rookie guard Nico Mannion were recalled from the Santa Cruz Warriors on Monday after putting up big numbers in the G League bubble in Orlando, Fla.

When Poole left the G League bubble, he was the second-leading scorer with 22.4 points per game on 45.1 percent shooting.

Poole hasn't yet lived up to the hype that comes with being a first-round draft pick, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr is hoping the 21-year-old plays with "force" in his latest stint with Golden State.

If Poole keeps playing with this aggression and scores at this clip, Kerr will have no choice but to give him significant second-unit minutes after the All-Star break.
