Jordan Smith passes CPA exam, is promoted to manager by Westberg Eischens

Jun. 19—WILLMAR — Jordan Smith, a staff accountant at Westberg Eischens, has passed the Uniform CPA Examination, the legal requirement for becoming a certified public accountant, according to a news release from the accounting and advisory firm with offices in Willmar, Montevideo, and Granite Falls.

In addition to his new title as CPA, Smith has also been promoted to manager at the firm.

The CPA exam consists of four, four-hour sections: auditing and attestation, business environment and concepts, financial accounting and reporting and regulation. Candidates must pass all four sections within 18 months, earning a minimum score of 75 on each part. According to the American Institute of CPAs, the national pass rate is just over 50%.

Smith is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in accounting and a minor in finance.
