Mar. 22—JOSHUA — After falling behind 7-0, the Joshua Owls rallied for an 8-7 win over Corsicana in walk-off fashion Friday night.

The Tigers (14-4, 3-1) scored two runs in the second, three in the third and two more in the fourth to take what would seem like a commanding 7-0 lead.

But the Owls got right back in it with six runs in the bottom of the fourth — highlighted by a three-run home run from Gio Calamia — to make it a one-run game.

The Tigers and Owls exchanged scoring threats in the sixth inning but neither able to push a run across, which set the stage for Joshua's late-game drama in the bottom of the seventh.

Lane Snow had a leadoff walk and Dylan Darnall followed with a single to put runners on first and second with no outs. After a strikeout, Adam Carlson laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both Snow and Darnall into scoring position. And Blaine Marek came through in the clutch with the game-winning, two-out, two-run single to win it in walk-off fashion.

Calamia had a big night for the Owls, both offensively and defensively. At the plate, Calamia went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a run and a walk. Calamia pitched the final three innings, shutting down Corsicana to the tune of only two base hits, no runs and no walks with four strikeouts to earn the win.

Darnall finished 2-for-3 with two runs while Marek was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk. Keaton Lane Jenkins finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

The Owls improved to 8-8-1 overall and 2-1 in District 14-5A play with Friday's win.

On Saturday, Joshua dropped a 9-4 decision in a non-district showdown at Aledo. The Owls are set to visit Waco University at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
