Joslyn Center To Hold Drive-Thru Health Fair, Flu Shot Clinic

Press release from The Joslyn Center:

Oct. 2, 2020

The Joslyn Center announced that its annual fall health fair and flu shot clinic will be held as a drive-through event in its parking lot on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, from 9:00 – 11:00 am at 73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert. The event is open to all seniors and older adults ages 50 and above.

Upon arriving at the Catalina Way entrance, guests will be asked to tune their car radios to a designated radio frequency for a special Joslyn Center broadcast featuring entertainment, special messages, and news. Guests will then slowly proceed through the parking lot to receive complimentary care packages complete with giveaways and information and resources from Joslyn’s business partners and community collaborators. A separate line will be set up for those who wish to receive their annual flu shot administered by pharmacists from Walgreens. Guests in the flu shot line will also receive care packages.

“We’re working hard to come up with creative alternatives to our standard programming during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Executive Director Jack Newby. “The health fair is the first of several hybrid events we will be hosting this fall for members and the senior community at large.”

Care packages are available on a first-come, first-served basis. One care package per car. Masks are mandatory and guests are always required to stay in their cars and move efficiently yet cautiously through the parking lot. The health fair is sponsored by Desert Oasis Healthcare, Desert Care Network, Eisenhower Health, Family Hospice Care, and Walgreens.
