Two teens hospitalized after shooting by unknown assailant in Oakleaf neighborhood

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into a shooting incident where two teenagers were wounded at a residence in the Oakleaf area. This incident unfolded when an unknown assailant approached a group and unleashed a series of gunshots.

Two male juveniles were shot and injured in Jacksonville’s 7300 block of New Meadows Court early Saturday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, around 1:28 a.m., a group of individuals had gathered outside a residence in the area of the 7300 block of New Meadows Court. At that time, an unidentified suspect approached the scene on foot and unleashed a barrage of gunfire at the group. The shooter then immediately left on foot after the attack.

The gunfire reportedly struck two male juveniles, causing non-life-threatening injuries. JSO stated that the injured juveniles were between the ages of 15 and 17, although the exact ages were not stated at this time.

Law enforcement authorities are currently conducting an extensive search of the area for video surveillance footage, which could provide critical leads regarding the direction the assailant(s) took or whether a vehicle was involved in the getaway.

As the investigation unfolds, detectives from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office are interviewing witnesses and attempting to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
