JSU football: Gamecocks land ACC transfer wide receiver

May 19—JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville State added another Power Five transfer to its wide receiver corps.

Former Virginia Tech wide receiver Dallan Wright announced his commitment to JSU on his social media accounts on Thursday.

Wright, a redshirt junior, was rostered at Virginia Tech for three seasons, but did not see the field. He missed the entire 2022 season with an injury.

He has three years of eligibility remaining.

The former Hokie is a native of Saluda, South Carolina, catching 87 passes for 1,508 yards and 25 touchdowns in his senior year at Saluda High School. He won a state championship in 2019 at Sadula.

Wright's commitment comes after longtime JSU wide receiver Ahmad Edwards and redshirt junior receiver Craig Kinsey entered the transfer portal in April.

He will join a wide receiver room that has three Power Five transfers, including Sterling Galban (Texas Tech), Michael Pettway (Washington State) and Jamarye Joiner (Arizona).
