Jubilant Cadista in Salisbury to lay off 80 employees

Jubilant Cadista, the Pennsylvania-based pharmaceutical company, announced it plans to cut 80 positions from its Salisbury location effective Wednesday, Nov. 23.

That comes after a Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification was filed Oct. 6 with the Maryland Department of Labor. According to the company's LinkedIn profile, it has an estimated 300 employees and was founded in 2005.

Efforts to reach the company for comment were not returned by Tuesday.

The company "serves customers globally who are looking for generic finished dosage products and formulation services. It’s engaged in the development, manufacture, sale and distribution of prescription generic pharmaceutical products around the world," its website says.

It specializes in gastrointestinal, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy therapeutic categories as well as other types of medications.

It had added about 200 jobs between 2013 and 2018 and expanded its packaging to an estimated 1.2 million bottles a month, the company previously told Delmarva Now.

At the time of print, the company's stock price was at $389.50 after a 3.45 point bump in early morning trading.
