Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann Shell Out $14.5 Million for Sprawling Santa Monica Penthouse

Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann are taking their Los Angeles living to new heights. The Hollywood megacouple recently snapped up a sprawling, mansion-sized penthouse in Santa Monica for a cool $14.5 million; their new home sits less than four miles away from their primary residence in neighboring Brentwood. The penthouse, part of a high-rise originally built back in the 1960s by renowned architect A. Quincy Jones, spans a spacious 8,026 square feet and comprises six bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms, with ample outdoor space courtesy of a wraparound terrace with mountain, city, and ocean views.

The unit is accessible via two secured elevators that open directly into the penthouse, where entire walls of glass sliders offer an indoor-outdoor feel to the elevated home. The large living room, for instance, is surrounded on three sides by walls of floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over lines of palm trees toward the ocean, and a pyramidical skylight adds even more luminosity to the space. It also boasts a carved stone fireplace flanked by built-in shelves, a walk-in wet bar and glossy, textured wood floors that help to ground the otherwise airy room. Directly off one end of the main living area is a more formal dining space, which is similarly lined along one side with glass sliders (this time, offering more of a city view), as well as a unique, abstract chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

Elsewhere in the unit are a library and a separate study, both of which are lined with built-in bookshelves and cabinets on two of the four walls and an entire set of floor-to-ceiling glass sliders along a third. The eat-in kitchen has room enough for a breakfast nook overlooking the coastline, and a nearby media lounge offers up cozy quarters for TV or movie viewing. At present, one of the four guest bedrooms has been converted into a home gym; each of the other rooms is laden with light and its own unique views facing a different side of the surrounding area.

The two master suites have their own customized amenities as well, with one boasting a dressing corridor lined with haberdashery-style wardrobes and the other featuring a combination dressing room and bathroom covered in unique rust-colored marble. The latter suite also features a deep-soaking jetted tub placed conveniently next to an oversize window facing the Santa Monica Pier. Upstairs, the 2,100-square-foot private rooftop terrace features its own spa tub and barbecue grill, perfect for a lazy summer evening get-together.

In addition to their new purchase, the Apatows own a 10,000-square-foot white brick traditional in Brentwood that they bought for $18.25 million in 2009, as well as a full-floor condo in NYC’s tony West Village, which they bought for $9.4 million in 2013.
