Lubbock-Cooper's Jude Cook headlined the area players selected to the Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 5A all-state baseball team, which was announced on Friday.

Cook earned second-team accolades as a pitcher after another standout season. The Angelo State signee repeated as District 4-5A MVP, going 10-0 on the mound during his senior season. He compiled a 1.13 ERA, striking out 82 batters and walking just 15 in 62 innings of work. He allowed just 1.05 walks and hits per inning.

Lubbock-Cooper teammates Kyler Jordan (first base), Holt Gibson (third base) and Kyle Lewis (outfield) were third-team honorees.

Outfielders John Curry (Coronado) and Isaac Garza (Plainview) and first baseman Trevor Stephens (Coronado) were honorable mentions.
