- Today a judge dismissed all charges against Richard Nicoletti. He was the Philadelphia SWAT officer who pepper-sprayed protesters on I-676 last summer. It happened during demonstrations after the death of George Floyd. The judge ruled there was a lack of evidence for the three charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. District attorney Larry Krasner says he will refile charges.
LARRY KRASNER: Every now and then there's someone in an institution who still got his wristwatch set to 1959. This is not a fascist country. The decision in this case is not only legally and factually wrong, it is un-American, and we fully intend to uphold the Constitution and seek justice in this case.
- The police department fired Nicoletti following the incident.
