LAWRENCE — The case concerning University of Kansas football player Trevor Wilson has effectively been dismissed, according to Douglas County District Attorney’s Office public information officer Cheryl Cadue.
Wilson was arrested in late August on suspicion of aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon. He was later charged with one count of aggravated assault with a handgun, according to the Lawrence Journal-World, after an incident in which no one was physically injured. Cadue told the Topeka Capital-Journal in an email that “Judge Stacey Donovan finds no probable cause to bind Mr. Wilson over” at a preliminary hearing Friday.
It’s unclear just yet what this means for Wilson’s football career, as he was suspended from the team indefinitely in the aftermath of his arrest.

Wilson is coming off a 2021 season in which he caught 27 passes for 364 yards and a touchdown for the Jayhawks after transferring in from Buffalo. He had tied for second on the team in receptions and was second in receiving yards. He figured to be a key piece in Kansas' plans this year.
