July 4 events in Logansport and surrounding areas
Jun. 27—The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has announced the schedule for their annual Fourth of July festivities and fireworks display, set for Monday, July 4 at Riverside Park.
The celebration starts at 2 p.m. A water balloon fight for all ages starts at 4:30 p.m. A softball game between the Logan Lovelies and local police officers and firefighters is at 7 p.m.
2 of a Kind will perform on the stage at 6:30 p.m., and the Grace Scott Band is set to perform from 8 to 10 p.m.
Liam Gay will sing the national anthem at 10:05 p.m., with fireworks set to start at 10:15.
Dentzel Drive will be closed to the general public and all parking along Riverside Drive will be handicap parking only. There will be traffic control officers at 10th and Race streets as well as 10th Street & Riverside Drive to check for handicap placards.
Homeowners that only have access from Riverside Drive will also be screened and allowed to access their homes. There will be a drop off location at the checkpoints for individuals and families that do not wish to walk.
The Splash Pad will open at 10 a.m. and the Muelhausen pool will be open to the public from noon to 6 p.m.
Organizers ask residents to leave pets at home. No personal fireworks are allowed and alcohol is not permitted in the parks.
Event Vendors include tacos from La Casita De Las Pupusas, Ol' Poppy's Kettle Corn & More, face painting with Julie Moore, Kona Ice, Brad's BBQ, Young America Lions Club, Union Pomona Grange, crafts from Whitetail Turners, Diane Domino essential oils, Laura Briseno Vital crafts and leather goods from John Helvie.

Walton
The schedule has been released for the Walton Fourth of July festivities. The Walton Independence Day 5K Run/Walk will start at 8 a.m. Monday, July 4. A parade through the town on Highway 35 begins at 2 p.m. A car show at the fire station will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., and the Lewis Cass Band Fish Fry at the Walton Christian Church will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. The evening ends with a fireworks show at about 10 p.m., northwest of town. Parking is allowed along highway 218 and 35, and the Lewis Cass parking lot.
Entries are now being accepted for Walton's Fourth of July parade. Parade route starts at 218-35, takes a right at Angler drive and a right on Maple back to school. All entries must have complete description of entry, and all persons with the entry need to be included. The reviewing stand will be at the Walton Library. Twelve Mile
The Twelve Mile Fourth of July parade will start at 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 4. If you would like to participate, register between 10 and 11 a.m. Entries will be in order of check in. A three-on-three basketball tournament will start at 8:30 a.m. at Plank Hill Park. The flag will be raised at 1:15 p.m. with the annual lawnmower races, the Twelve Mile 500, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at dusk at the park. Admission for the races is $5.
Peru
The 18th annual Firecracker 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Monday, July 4 at the Peru Fire Department, 85 W. Canal St. Race day registration is open from 7 to 7:45 a.m. The race will feature food, grab bag goodies and a drawing for a Garmin Forerunner (all participants receive one entry). Awards for overall male and female finishers; first-, second-, and third-place male and female age group finishers; and the most patriotic participants. The City of Peru is hosting a celebration and fireworks beginning at 6 p.m. at Maconaquah Park with a military rights flag display. Live music from Tonehenge from 7 to 9 p.m. at the First Farmers Amphitheater, and fireworks begin at 10 p.m. There will be food vendors and entertainment before and during the show.
Winamac
The Pulaski County Tribe is hosting a free summer celebration before the fireworks from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 4 at the Winamac school grounds near the football field.
Enjoy the festivities and then stick around to watch the fireworks show. You will need to be outside of the gated area when fireworks begin after dusk.
PCT is seeking partners to collaborate to offer free activities for kids. The activities can include crafts, games and giveaways. To register to participate as a community partner or to volunteer, email pulaskicountytribe@gmail.com.
