Junior's hat trick powers Coventry

Sep. 17—Stanley Strycharz started his junior season with the Coventry High boys soccer team with a hat trick, leading the visiting Patriots to a 5-0 NCCC win over SMSA at Colt Park in Hartford to open their season.

All five goals for Coventry (1-0-0) came in the first half. Scores from Aidan Hecht and Boden Almeida book ended Strycharz's hat trick.

Owen Dieterle had two assists while Jacob Wojtkowiak, Malachy Blood and Noah Poulin had one.

The Patriots host Stafford today. SMSA is (1-3-0).

ELLINGTON 2, GRANBY 0. Cole Leavitt made three saves as the Knights shut out the Bears in Granby.

Owen Hoffman put Ellington (2-0-0) in front with eight minutes left when he sent a shot off the right post and under goalie Brayden Milbrandt's arm.

Ethan Mallett added the insurance goal four minutes later, scoring on the rebound after Milbrandt saved a penalty shot. Milbrandt made six saves for Granby (0-2-0).

SUFFIELD 9, BOLTON 2. Giuseppe Lagana scored three goals to lead the host Wildcats to a NCCC win.

Adam Saleh, Daniel Robb, Nick Van Cott, Tyler Lewis, Timmy Tkacz and Grzegorz Barszcz all scored single goals for Suffield (1-1-0).

GLASTONBURY 6, WETHERSFIELD 0. Tim McGuire was one of six Guardians to find the back of the net in their CCC interdivisional road win.

It's the third straight shutout for Glastonbury (3-0-0), which has outscored its opponents 14-0 so far this season.

Gage Haines, Mateo Greco, Jack Shaheen, Nate Schulz and Brayden Chance also scored. Ben Pavano, Adam Molusis, Will Greelish, Steven Infante and Griffin Szalkiewizcz recorded assists.

Patrick Butler, Alex Bellofiore and Tobin Walsh combined for two saves. Brogran Crowell stopped nine shots for Wethersfield (0-3-0).

EAST HARTFORD 2, WINDSOR 0. Abdul Jimbah and Alex Alvarez each had a goal and an assist to lead the host Hornets to a CCC interdivisional win.

The win is the second for East Hartford (2-0-1), matching its win total in 2021.

Alvarez opened the scoring with 21:35 left in the first half, and Jimbah's header with 15:34 to go sealed it.

Lesly Pinthiere recorded his second shutout of the year, making five saves. Micah Gregory stopped seven shots for Windsor (2-1-0).

RHAM 2, LEWIS MILLS 1. Truman Brodeur scored the winning goal as the host Raptors won a CCC interdivsional game.

The junior broke the 1-1 tie on a free kick set piece with 15:24 left to play. Jack Luby had the assist.

RHAM (2-0-1) got on the board first when Cooper Halotek connected on a long free kick with 1:43 left in the fist half. Ian Nanowski tied it for the Spartans (1-2-0) 1:20 into the second half.

Erik Buden made three saves in the win while Cooper Martinotti and Marek Nardi combined for four saves for Lewis Mills.

TOLLAND 3, SIMSBURY 3. Vince Cassarino scored all three goals as the host Eagles played the Trojans to a tie in a CCC interdivsional game.

Simsbury (1-1-1) opened the scoring five minutes into the game. Cassarino responded with three straight goals to put Tolland (1-0-2) ahead 3-1 at the break.

The Trojans tied it with two goals in the first four minutes of the second half after two Tolland miscues.

Brendan McCloskey had two assists for Tolland while Luke McCarthy had one. Noah Hill made five saves.

Tolland is at Windsor Monday.
