Jupiter intersection near A1A bridge to close for 11 days for Brightline crossing improvements

JUPITER — Brightline is installing new rail crossing safety equipment at Riverside Drive and Alternate A1A next to the Loxahatchee River bridge, a project that will close the intersection for nearly 11 days.

The intersection will close at 7 a.m. today and reopen at 6 p.m. Oct. 16.

The project is part of Brightline preparing to run its trains along the FEC tracks from West Palm Beach to Orlando International Airport. It expects to begin offering that service by early 2023.

Westbound traffic headed to Riverside will be directed to take a left turn from Alternate A1A onto Old Dixie, then a left turn onto Tequesta Drive and a left onto Seabrook Road, which connects to Riverside Drive.

What will be open?

Residents of the Riverside area will still be able to drive around their neighborhood during the closure. The portion of Riverside between the railroad crossing and Seabrook will be open, as well as access to the Cypress Drive business district from both Tequesta and Riverside drives.
