Jupiter Makes Closest Approach to Earth in 59 Years

Jupiter appeared bright in the night sky on September 26-27, making its closest approach to Earth in nearly six decades.

Outside of the moon, Jupiter would have been one of the brightest objects in the night sky, NASA said.

This video was recorded by Vishal Verma.

“At its closest approach, Jupiter will be approximately 367 million miles in distance from Earth, about the same distance it was in 1963,” NASA said. Jupiter is approximately 600 million miles away from Earth at its farthest point. Credit: Vishal Verma via Storyful
