UPDATE: A jury found Williamson not guilty of murder at the conclusion of a trial that ran from Nov. 29, 2021, to Dec. 2, 2021.

Charges of possessing a handgun as a convicted felon and being a persistent felony offender were also dismissed, according to court records.

Prosecutors and a public defender for Williamson did not return a request for comment.

Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting that took place on a TARC bus in the middle of downtown Louisville in December.

Lawrence P. Williamson, 65, was arrested and charged with murder Saturday, LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

He is accused of shooting Michael W. Bennett on Dec. 23 on a TARC bus and fleeing the scene.

Bennett, 42, died earlier this month as a result of multiple gunshot wounds sustained in a fight with Williamson on the bus near the Kentucky International Convention Center at 3rd and Market streets.
