'They Just Blew It Up': Jets Shoot Down Surveillance Balloon Near Myrtle Beach

Jet contrails and smoke were seen over the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, area on Saturday, February 4, as President Joe Biden confirmed to media that a Chinese surveillance balloon was shot down by United States military craft.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced it closed airspace above the South Carolina and North Carolina coastal region on Saturday “to support the Department of Defense in a national security effort.”

The Pentagon confirmed that the Chinese surveillance balloon was first spotted over Montana and moved eastward.

Video posted by Twitter user @RealUSC on Saturday, which he said was captured from the nearby city of Conway, shows a white object falling with two contrails and smoke nearby. A voice in the footage can be heard saying, “they just shot it” and “they just blew it up.”
