I Just Bought a $50 Nightstand from Amazon, and No, It Isn't Made of Cardboard

“I love that—is it from Wayfair?” my friend asked, admiring the freshly assembled nightstand beside my bed. A few weeks ago, I would’ve thought the same thing. In fact, I scrolled endlessly through sites like Wayfair, IKEA and West Elm looking at similar designs before I found this three-tiered, rustic-meets-modern number.

But no, my nightstand is actually from Amazon—and it only cost me $50. That’s brag-worthy, considering most of the other nightstands I was considering were well over $100 on other sites. You get what you pay for though, right? Not in this case.

The VECELO X-Design Nightstand looks and feels just like a higher-end one would. It’s sturdy and secure (no wobbling here!) with plenty of storage space, so I can display my half-read books in a way that’s chic, not cluttered. It also has a durable finish, so you don’t have to worry about spills or stains.

The thing that really sold me, however, is how insanely easy it was to build. At first, I was going to have my dad help me assemble it (read: build it for me). But with some encouragement from my roommate, I decided to try my hand at putting it together.

This nightstand comes with instructions so thorough, even a furniture-building newbie (*raises hand*) can figure them out. My lack of a tool kit didn’t hinder me either, since it came with a screwdriver and carefully labeled screws. In 15 minutes flat, it was built and ready to house my charger, Himalayan salt lamp and that copy of The Gifts of Imperfection that I keep meaning to finish.

The TL;DR? Don’t sleep on Amazon’s furniture listings or you’ll miss a gem like this one.
