‘Just a disaster’: Cleanup underway in Framingham following latest round of severe thunderstorms
The weather in Massachusetts made for a wet and wild Tuesday in Framingham.
“It is crazy I don’t know, this is unlike anything we’ve seen so far,” says Jaime Haber, a Framingham resident.
“This whole area is just a disaster,” says Carlo Stanizzi, another Framingham resident.
The heavy rain caused flooded streets and giant trees uprooted from the ground. A tree landed on a home blocking the front entrance, but the homeowner says it didn’t cause any damage. Another enormous tree destroyed a shed. Not too far from there, more neighbors saw trees come down in their yard and on their car.
“It is a lot of damage going on. My wife’s car is totaled, house gutters ripped apart, vinyl torn off the house, so it is kind of surprising. I am kind of shocked,” says Stanizzi.
Tree removal companies and Eversource crews kept busy with the downed power lines all around causing many roads to be blocked during the evening commute. To top it off, many people say they were told to expect power back on by midnight Wednesday.
“It is tough, but we will deal. We are New Englanders, we will deal,” says Haber.
“The only good thing about this is all the neighbors are coming out and helping each other so that is the only good thing that happens in situations like this,” says Stanizzi.
The clean-up effort is just beginning in Framingham. Some neighbors told Boston 25 News they think it could take weeks for the area to get back to normal.
