TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man from Weeki Wachee has performed his way on to “The Voice” this season.

Donny Van Slee, 30, performed his rendition of Lanco’s “Greatest Love Story” during Tuesday’s episode and got Reba McEntire and Dan and Shay to turn their chairs.

Van Slee, who goes by “Dr. Donny,” is a chiropractor in Nashville.

While in school and participating in an internship, he had a pitstop in Nashville and fell in love with the music scene. He eventually moved there and participated in Tootsie’s “Honky Tonk Training.”

Two years later, he is still in Nashville balancing music and work. He works five days a week as a chiropractor and adjusts almost 50 patients daily.

Van Slee said he was at work when he received a call about being on the show.

“Right after I got the call, someone walks in, and I had to, like, adjust them. And it was like the craziest thing. The fact that I’m going to be on, just found out I’m gonna be on ‘The Voice and then someone’s just telling me about their back pain. It was hilarious,” Van Slee said.

“I just sang my song, just sang it and she turned. This is like oh my God, Reba just turned for me,” he said. “She’s the queen. she’s got that queen energy and she owns it. She knows what she’s doing.”

Van Slee said his experience on the show has been “just incredible.”
