Just kicking it: These are six of the top kickers in Montco, Bucks County football

Kickers don’t always get a lot of credit. But that changes in a hurry when your team lacks a reliable kicking option. Luckily, the teams these six players kick for don’t have to worry about that. Having a solid kicker is a luxury for many teams, which makes these players all the more valuable.

Ryan Bocklet, North Penn, sophomore

Bocklet stepped into the role of North Penn’s place kicker last season as a freshman. Bocklet, a talented soccer player, had never played football before but managed the workload of playing two sports in the same season like a pro. He was ultra reliable on extra point attempts, going 6-for-6 in one game. He hit field goals from 56 yards in the preseason.

Brett Jackson, Conwell-Egan, junior

Jackson was a first-team All-Catholic Blue Division selection after a stellar sophomore campaign. Jackson scored 23 points on two field goals and 17 extra points, including an exceptional outing in a 36-0 win over West Catholic, where Jackson went 3-for-3 on extra points attempts, had a pair of touchbacks on kickoffs, and connected on a field goal. As a punter, he had a long of 54 yards.

Dante Giannetti, Harry S. Truman, senior

Giannetti emerged as one of the most reliable kickers in the SOL last season, connecting on nearly all of his 15 extra point attempts. Even so, he is committed to improvement and has been putting in the work this offseason. Giannetti had a particularly memorable outing in the Tigers’ win against Hatboro-Horsham, where he went 6-for-6 on extra points. Giannetti didn't attempt any field goals last season, but that should change this year, especially due to the impressive distance he's been hitting in practice.

Ty Quintois, Souderton, senior

Quintois is a multi-sport athlete and has been incredibly reliable kicking for Souderton. Last season, he was 19-for-21 on extra point attempts and had a long field goal of 31 yards. He also had nine touchbacks on kickoffs.

Jared Smith, Germantown Academy, junior

Smith was named first-team All-Inter-Academic League and Germantown Academy’s Special Teams Player of the Year after scoring 40 points last season, which was eighth-most in school history. Smith was 6-for-7 on field goals and 22-for-25 on extra point attempts.

Tom Hurst, Bensalem, sophomore

As a freshman, Tom hit a 45-yard FG in the Owls’ win over Hatboro-Horsham and nailed 16/19 extra points during the season.
